Quantum Chemistry @ UWindsor
Attention students taking 59-340 in the 2007-2008 school year: The textbook for this course is McQuarrie, D.A., Physical Chemistry - A Molecular Approach, ISBN 978-0-935702-99-6, 1997, 1360 pages, casebound, It is currently on order through the book store.
Solutions manuals will be on reserve at the Leddy Library and related materials will be available on this website.
All consultations with students are by appointment. Please email me, and I will work around your schedule to see you as soon as possible.
Principles of quantum theory, origins of quantum mechanics, wave-particle duality, Schroedinger equation, Born interpretation of the wavefunction, the uncertainty principle, applications of quantum mechanics, atomic structure and spectra, molecular structure, molecular orbital theory, introduction to computational chemistry. (Prerequisite: 59-241.) (3 lecture, 3 laboratory hours per week.)
